TIP No. 11

Avoid Keeping Stove, Sink, and Fridge in One Straight Line

The kitchen is one of the most sensitive spaces in any home because it influences nourishment, routine, health, and the everyday mood of the family. In Vastu, special care is given to the relationship between fire and water. That is why it is generally not considered ideal to keep the stove, sink, and refrigerator in one direct straight line without balance or separation. The stove represents Agni, while the sink and fridge represent the cooling and water principle. When these opposite energies are forced into constant direct contact, the kitchen can begin to feel strained, unsettled, or inefficient. In practical life, this may show up as irritation while cooking, disorder in the kitchen, or a sense that the space never feels fully comfortable. Even where a perfect layout is not possible, some correction can still help. A small divider, counter gap, or thoughtful redesign can soften the clash between the elements. This is not about fear. It is about balance. A kitchen works best when the energies of heat, water, storage, and movement are allowed to support one another instead of fighting for space.
